Christmas party in Munich: ideas for companies and small teams 2026
Every autumn, many Munich companies face the same question: what are we doing for this year’s Christmas party? A restaurant, a bowling alley, or something the team will still be talking about in February? Here you will find ideas for a Christmas party in Munich, sorted by team size, along with notes on costs, timing and getting there. We are a distillery just outside the city, so we have our own recommendation. We still present the other ideas fairly.
What ideas are there for a Christmas party in Munich?
Many Christmas parties follow one of three patterns: eating together, experiencing something together, or combining both in one evening. Combining a programme with a meal has a practical advantage in mixed teams: the programme gives the evening a structure and a shared topic of conversation, even for colleagues who rarely meet in everyday work.
Typical ideas that go down well in Munich:
- Classic Christmas dinner in a restaurant or traditional inn: straightforward, but often little to talk about afterwards.
- A visit to the Christmas market followed by dinner: atmospheric, but dependent on the weather and very busy in December.
- Curling, bowling or an escape room: active and playful, better suited to sporty teams.
- Cooking class: doing something together with a meal as the result, usually for smaller groups.
- Tour with tasting or distilling course: programme and enjoyment in one, indoors and independent of the weather.
If you are looking for an unusual Christmas party in Munich, the last category is worth a closer look: it combines a fixed schedule with an experience not every team already knows.
Which Christmas party suits which team size?
Group size largely determines which venue and which programme fit. The overview below shows what is possible at our distillery in Aschheim for each size.
| Team size | Suitable format | Option at THE DUKE |
|---|---|---|
| up to 16 people | Shared evening on a fixed date | Public tour (Thursdays, max. 16 participants) |
| from 10 or 12 people | Exclusive group programme | Distilling course from 10, tour with tasting from 12 people |
| 20 to 80 people | Party with your own venue | Exclusive hire, seated up to 60, standing 80 and more |
Christmas party for a small team (10 to 20 people)
Small teams have several options. From 12 people, you can book the distillery tour with tasting as an exclusive group programme; smaller groups are possible on request against a minimum spend. From 10 people, the exclusive distilling course is available, and everyone takes their own bottle home. If you want to stay flexible, join the public distillery tour: Thursdays at 6:30 pm, 1.5 to 2 hours, 39 euros per person, a maximum of 16 participants, aged 18 and over, bookable online.
Christmas party for 20, 30 or 40 people
From 20 people, an exclusive evening in the whole distillery makes sense. You can combine a tour or a distilling course with a meal, for example. That gives the evening a beginning, a highlight and plenty of time to celebrate. We put together an offer on request to suit your number of guests and programme.
Christmas party for up to 80 people
For larger departments or the whole company, you can hire the distillery exclusively, with no parallel operation. Up to 60 guests can be seated, 80 and more standing. A projector, screen and speakers are available for speeches or a review of the year. You will find the details on our page about a Christmas party at the distillery.
Why hold a Christmas party at a distillery?
A distillery is not a restaurant with Christmas decorations but a place with its own history. Ours is housed in a historic 19th-century brick building, a former potato distillery we moved into in 2016. Its centrepiece is the glass distillery (Gläserne Manufaktur), where you look straight onto the distillation. On top of that there is our own bar, the THE DUKE Bar, an outdoor area and a workshop room.
THE DUKE was founded in Munich in 2008. On Google, guests rate us 4.8 stars from 320 reviews (as of October 2026).
How much does a Christmas party with a programme cost?
Prices for exclusive group programmes and for hiring the distillery are available on request, because the offer depends on the number of guests, the programme and the catering. Only the public distillery tour has a fixed price: 39 euros per person, bookable online.
For companies taxed in Germany, Section 19 (1) No. 1a of the Income Tax Act sets a tax allowance for company events of 110 euros per participant; ask your tax adviser for the details.
What is there to eat and drink?
Drinks and snacks mostly come from our bar menu. For a proper meal, we work with caterers we trust, for example for a buffet or a set menu. For colleagues who do not drink alcohol, ENTGEISTERT is an alcohol-free alternative to gin. As a memento of the evening, you can give each guest a bottle to take home: gin, vodka or aperitivo.
When should you book your 2026 Christmas party?
December dates are in high demand at our distillery. So book as early as you can. A possible timeline:
- September to October: set the budget, number of participants and preferred date, then send your enquiry.
- October to November: choose the programme and catering, confirm the date.
- About four weeks before: collect the guest list, food preferences and intolerances.
- One week before: send directions and the schedule to the team.
If your preferred date in December is already taken, a party in January is a good alternative: a review of the year works just as well then.
How does the team get to the distillery in Aschheim?
THE DUKE Destillerie is located at Feldkirchner Str. 1, 85609 Aschheim, about 15 minutes from Munich city centre.
- By S-Bahn: S2 to Riem or Dornach, then bus 263 or 264.
- By U-Bahn: U2 to Messestadt West, then bus 263 or 234.
- By car: A99, exit Aschheim/Ismaning; parking is free.
- By shuttle: on request, we arrange a transfer to and from Munich.
For a party with a tasting, the shuttle is a good choice: nobody on the team has to drive.
Conclusion: which Christmas party suits you?
For a small team, the public tour or an exclusive group programme is often enough. From 20 and up to 80 people, exclusive hire of the whole distillery with programme and catering makes sense. You will find all options and how to enquire on the page about a Christmas party at the distillery; you can reach our team directly at bar@theduke-gin.de.
